Director of US National Humanities Institute Talks at Tsinghua Summit Lecture in Humanities
On June 1, Professor Geoffrey Galt Harpham, director of American National Humanities Institute, opened Tsinghua University Summit Lecture in Humanities with a lecture titled “Humanities and National Identity.” A day before this, President Chen Jining met with Harpham at the Gongziting Hall, and introduced the history and current development of the university, with the belief that Harpham’s trip would help step up the cooperation and communication between Tsinghua and humanities scholars in the US. The lecture was hosted by Professor Liu Shisheng, associate dean of the School of Humanities, and chair of DFLL, with Professor Wang Ning, director of the Center for Comparative Literature and Culture Studies, as the commentator.
