3 Professors from US and Japan Appointed as Wei Lun Distinguished Visiting Professors of Our University

On December 13, Professor Horace G. C. Campbell in the Departments of African American Studies and Political Science at Syracuse University in the US, Professor Rebecca E. Karl, in the Departments of History and East Asia Studies at New York University in the US, and Professor Hiro Yoshi Ogane in the Faculty of Culture and Information Science at Doshisha University in Japan, were appointed as Wei Lun Distinguished Visiting Professors of our university. Professor Li Qiang, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, attended the appointment ceremony and awarded the letters of appointment to the three professors. Professor Shi Zhiqin, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of SHSS, Professor Liu Shisheng, Associate Dean of SHSS, Mr. Liu Taoxiong, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of SHSS, and teachers from relevant departments and institutes attended the ceremony. Professor Campbell researches in International Relations, Comparative Politics and so on, with a special interest in African issues. Professor Karl’s research fields are Modern Chinese History, Chinese Nationalism, Chinese Revolution, and Marxism. Professor Ogane has long been engaged in Statistical Studies and Statistical Analysis of language, texts and literary works. This time, they visited the Departments of International Relations, History, and Chinese Language and Literature of SHSS.
