Tsinghua University’s Joint Institute for China-Russia Strategic Cooperation Is Founded
The founding meeting for Tsinghua University’s Joint Institute for China-Russia Strategic Cooperation was held in Tsinghua on the morning of April 25. The speakers at the meeting were Mr. Liu Limin, Vice Minister of Education, Mr. Cao Jianlin, Vice Minister of Science and Technology Ministry, Mr. Hu Heping, the Party Secretary of Tsinghua University, and Mr. Tao Miheng (Tomikhin Evgeny), Minister Counselor of the Russian Federation Embassy to China. Hu Heping and Xie Weihe, Vice President of Tsinghua University and Director-General of the Joint Institute, unveiled the plaque of the Institute. Representatives from the four Russian institutions in cooperation (Institute of Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Lomonosov Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University, Moscow State University of Transportation) addressed the audience to express their warm congratulations. Over 200 Chinese and Russian experts attended the meeting, and their discussion centered around three topics—“Sino-Russian Scientific and Technological Industry and Innovation within the Framework of China-Russia Strategic Cooperation”, “Benefits, Concepts, and Cognitive Basis of China-Russia Strategic Cooperation”, and “China-Russia Cooperation in the Humanities and Social Sciences within the Framework of China-Russia Strategic Cooperation”. As a gift for the Centenary Celebration of Tsinghua University, an exhibition titled “Achievements of Tsinghua-Russian Cooperation in the New Era” was held on campus simultaneously.
