An Alumni Reception “Tsinghua Humanities in a Century” Held at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences
On the afternoon of April 24, 2011, an alumni reception titled “Tsinghua Humanities in a Century” was held in Mong Man Wai Building by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Li Qiang, Dean of the School, Wang Sunyu, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of the School, Hu Xianzhang, former Dean of SHSS, former Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of the University, together with faculty representatives and more than two hundred alumni attended the reception.
Dean Li Qiang introduced the history of the humanities at Tsinghua and SHSS, its current situation and development plan, and encouraged all the friends to put efforts together and strive for a better prospect under the guidance of President Hu Jintao.
With an insightful elaboration on the meaning of school motto, campus, and alumnus, Former Dean Hu Xianzhang emphasized the importance of the humanities and social sciences, and called on all the people involved to work hard to bring our humanities and social sciences to the forefront of the fields in the world by the mid-21st century.
Wang Sunyu, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of SHSS, announced the establishment of the Alumni Association of the School. In their speeches, faculty and alumni representatives expressed their love and gratitude to the School and best wishes for its future.
An alumni donation ceremony was held afterwards.
