For Bian Zhilin, a famous poet, writer, translator in modern China, the year 2010 is the 100th anniversary of his birth and 10th anniversary of his death. The Chinese Department, along with the Advanced Institute of Humanities, Tsinghua University, hosted a symposium in memory of this great man of letters. About 40 people were present, including Bian Zhilin's daughter Ms Bian Qingqiao, and teachers and students from Peking University, People's University, Capital Normal University, Nankai University, Tianjin Normal University, Zhejiang University, and the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, and reporters from the media.
