Karatani Kōjin Appointed as Wei Lun Distinguished Visiting Professor

On November 14, Professor Karatani Kōjin from Kinki University in Japan was appointed as Wei Lun Distinguished Visiting Professor of our University. Professor Wan Junren, dean of the School of Humanities, conferred on him the letter of appointment. And he hoped that Karatani Kōjin would have more academic communication with the School and help promote the development of related fields, especially that of Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences. Karatani Kōjin stated that it is the mission of scholars engaged in exchange activities of thought and culture to break the impasse between China and Japan. In addition, he said that through his lectures and communication with Chinese students, he deeply felt that Asia is full of hope for a peaceful and prosperous future. Luo Gang, the party secretary of the School of Humanities, and Wang Hui, director of Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences attended the ceremony.
