Professor Janaki Bakhle from the History Department of UC Berkeley gave a lecture entitled “Putting Global Intellectual History in its Place” at Xinzhai on April 18. The lecture was hosted by Professor Mei Xueqin from the History Department of Tsinghua University. Professor Bakhle is a renowned expert on Indian history in the US, and her magnum opus isTwo Men and Music: Nationalism and the Making of an Indian Classical Tradition. This trip to Tsinghua was her first visit in China.
